POSITION SUMMARY:

 

This position is responsible for supporting Amtrak’s Content Marketing initiatives to boost ridership and revenue with an emphasis on new customer acquisition. Individuals in this position will support the development of content across each facet of the path-to-purchase journey, especially with Organic and Paid Search in mind as the leading Marketing channels. Having both creative and analytical skills will be the keys to success in this position.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with Advertising & Marketing team leads to monitor organic search performance and and help prepare insights for reporting
  • Assist with research and implementation of SEO ready content with a clearly defined customer need
  • Conduct in-depth keyword research to identify relevant keywords and phrases that align with our business goals
  • Draft SEO-first copy in form of blog posts, product descriptions and website copy that enhances and expands Amtrak’s reputation as a convenient, comfortable, and environmentally responsible travel option
  • Review existing landing pages for on-page optimization opportunities and make recommendations for meta tags, header tags and URL structure
  • Stay up to date on the latest SEO trends and best practices

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Political Science or related field.
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Marketing experience (copywriting, SEO, digital strategies, social media, etc.)
  • Skilled writer with a demonstrated ability to develop new ideas and communicate complex topics
  • Strong creative and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Understanding and exposure to HTML, CSS and JavaScript

 

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

 

The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.

 

Summer 2025 internship program will run from May 19th - August 8, 2025.
