In our internship program you will be responsible for supporting your assigned team with a variety of projects and administrative work. No coffee runners work here in the summer, you will do real work that you can add to your resume once you have completed this program. For our top performing interns, this program is our pipeline for many of our entry level full-time positions.
As an Internal Audit Intern, you will... - Participate in weekly department meetings.
- Assist in the performance of financial and operational audits in accordance with the internal audit program.
- Review Bancorp's practices and records for compliance with established internal policies and procedures.
- Assist in the development of recommendations for improving internal controls, operating efficiency, and the adequacy of records and recordkeeping.
- Assist in follow-up reviews of financial or operational findings noted during audits.
- Assist in investigations of irregularities discovered by or brought to the auditor's attention.
- Perform other duties as required, consistent with the goals, objectives, and responsibilities of the Internal Audit Department.
- Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding the industry's rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.
- Prior intern projects include SOX Key Control testing, Internal Audit Department Manual, and operational audits in accordance with the internal audit program.
- The goal is that you will take what you have learned in your course work, apply it to your projects and then implement those solutions or recommendations.
- Have both a manager and mentor to help guide your through our program and your day-to-day work.
- Be given the opportunity to deliver a final presentation of your project/s results and make business recommendations to your department, team members and Company leadership.
- Work onsite in one of our offices for an average of 35-40 hours per week. At Merchants we believe that "Together Everyone Achieves More", so we will not have a virtual option in Summer 2025.

Requirements
What we are looking for... - Have completed at least your sophomore year of college. Graduates are welcome to apply as well.
- All degree programs will be considered, college level courses in Accounting, Auditing or Finance preferred.
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution required.
- Exhibit these core disciplines: Teamwork, Communication, Critical Thinking, Integrity, Self-Discipline, and Adaptability.
