Universal City :
At our Universal City office interns will have access to the NBCUCommutes program, which provides fully subsidized transit passes to full-time lower lot employees, good for unlimited rides on all Metro bus and rail, such as the Metro Red Line.

Summer 2025 Internship Program:

- Program Dates: June 2 – August 8, 2025
- Time Commitment: 40 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.
- Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Universal City, CA.

The Entertainment Group develops and schedules the network’s primetime, late-night, and daytime entertainment programming, including USA, SYFY, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, and Universal Kids. NBC’s quality programs and balanced line-up have earned the network critical acclaim, numerous awards and ratings success, including most recently winning the traditional September-to-May season in primetime’s key demo, marking the network’s third win in four years. NBC has earned more Emmy Awards than any network in television history.
Universal Studio Group (USG) encompasses NBCUniversal’s television production studios: Universal Television (UTV), Universal Content Productions (UCP), NBCUniversal International Studio, and Universal Television Alternative Studio (UTAS). USG produces over 100 scripted and unscripted series across multiple countries around the globe for buyers in broadcast, cable, and streaming. Network partners include NBC, Peacock, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Apple, HBO, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, CTV, ABC, FOX, and ABC among many others.
Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
- Bravo, E! and Oxygen Multiplatform Strategy & Planning : We are looking for an intern who can join the team and make a large impact across the biggest show campaigns, scripted and non-scripted series, news and live events within our portfolio. This individual will be tasked with planning and scheduling daily logs on selected networks and working with the overall marketing group to determine the best approach to take when we receive our plethora of promotional content
- Campaign Project Management: Assist Production Assistants and SYFY/Oxygen teams with various on-air and off-air projects, Monthly Music Reporting for all on-air deliverables for USA and SYFY shows, organize and manage show assets and deliverables via Dropbox, organize production trackers in Airtable, assist Press leads with creating screeners, pulling press clips and/or images for broadcast appearances and/or article features for USA/Universal Kids shows, pitch and edit promotional content for on-air and off-air for Oxygen and SYFY shows, and regulate and arrange asset logs - watching and sorting through Oxygen/SYFY footage
- E! News Digital Video & Booking: Write video scripts based on E! Online news articles, gather video assets, and edit 2–5-minute news videos using Adobe Premiere, write engaging news video headlines and descriptions, create captivating thumbnail images to accompany news videos with Adobe Photoshop, screening new shows and films as well as reading books to take notes about major storylines and talent of interest to make recommendations to bookers what talent we should be trying to book, researching past interviews of talent and projects to help come up with smart, fresh, relevant questions, helping news booking team with outreach to institutions and public agencies to confirm and acquire details, and more.
- Entertainment Casting : Maintain internal talent database, curate daily casting news from trades, research upcoming theater and comedy shows, compile ongoing lists of TV premiere dates and cancelled series, manage the Competitive Pilot Report and track showcases during pilot season
- Entertainment Scripted Content : Schedule and track meetings and pitches for junior executives on the team, file and submit development pitches in online filing system, create weekly “Premiere Week” newsletters detailing all upcoming premieres, releases and finales, competitive or internal, script coverage, take notes during creative calls and pitches
- Production & Operations: Interns will attend and participate in meetings to stay up to date with projects, help to manage FineCut, NBCU’s internal screening system, review and audit post production materials in wrap bibles, support Production Managers/Coordinators with document review, updating production spreadsheets, and distributing production information, work with other departments to find most up to date information and documents for shows in production and more. The Production & Operations intern will have the opportunity to work on entertainment content across networks like NBC, Bravo, Oxygen, E!, USA, SYFY, and Peacock.
- Television & Streaming DEI : NBCUniversal’s TV DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) team, also known as NBCU LAUNCH, is one of the longest standing diversity, equity and inclusion departments in the entertainment industry. Our team is committed to discovering and developing the next generation of content creators from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds through our groundbreaking talent development programs that focus on helping to launch careers and forging pathways to continued success within NBCUniversal. - Unscripted Content- Alternative, Lifestyle & Documentary : Prep for, attend, and take notes in current production and show development meetings, conduct research and create documents tracking talent, competition, industry trends and new show ideas, assist with scheduling, phones, and expenses when requested, help track and organize all incoming pitches and creative materials in our development grid, watch cuts of new programming in various stages of completion, providing feedback and assisting with the creative process, manage, update and take ownership of grids outlining various information pertaining to slate of current series
- West Coast Content Acquisition : NBCU’s Content Acquisition team is seeking a proactive self-starter to join our West Coast content acquisition efforts. As the Content Acquisition Intern, you will be a vital part of after deal end-to-end partner relationships, including working cross-functionally with NBCU leadership and business units to ensure strategic and operational alignment. This role will require you to be fluent in media and technology, as you help guide our partners through our onboarding process
- UCP Current Programming & Development: Interns will organize and update staffing, OWA, and ODA grids as needed, practice giving script and cut notes, write coverage on manuscripts we're interested in pursuing, cover desks when coordinators are out of office, and more
- Universal International Studio, Scripted Programming: Intern responsibilities include organizing incoming submissions, maintaining talent list, updating writer samples as well as tracking international festival films, writing coverage and feedback on scripts and manuscripts, participating in weekly meetings with the team to track new books, IP, materials that are coming to market, and more
- USG Creative Acquisitions: Interns will maintain department databases of incoming and outgoing IP submissions, format and create copy for internal memos, read prospective material to succinctly pitch or pass in internal meetings, cover desks, phones, and administrative tasks for coordinators, spearhead special research projects and create presentation decks
- UTV Programming & Creative: Intern responsibilities include providing desk coverage across the departments as needed, including scheduling, rolling calls, and emailing with both internal personnel and external assistants, reading scripts and providing written coverage, that includes a summary and comments on if the material would be well suited to adapt for TV, helping the UTV coordinators with keeping grids and reports up to date, and participating in a self-guided project to hone industry knowledge and skills relevant to the intern’s career aspirations in entertainment
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (June 2025 through August 2025). May 2025 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2025 Internship Program.
- Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
- Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

Desired Characteristics:
- Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Strong writing, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Excellent project and time management, problem-solving, and research skills.
- Social media savvy and awareness of latest global trends.
- Interest in production/development, casting and/or talent management, unscripted content, crime and documentary content, entertainment news and pop culture.
- Script coverage experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) & Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Airtable. IMDBPro.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Media Encoder, After Effects, etc.).
The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $17.50.
