Banquet Houseman/Cleaner Job Description:

Job Title: Banquet Houseman

Department: Banquets/Event Services

Reports To: Banquet Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Job Summary:

The Banquet Houseman plays a crucial role in ensuring that banquet and event spaces are properly set up, maintained, and cleared according to client specifications and hotel/event venue standards. This position involves handling furniture, décor, and equipment while assisting in the overall cleanliness and organization of event areas. The Banquet Houseman works closely with the Maître D’, servers, and other event staff to create a seamless and professional experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Setup & Breakdown:

• Set up banquet rooms and event spaces according to banquet event orders (BEOs) and diagrams.
• Arrange tables, chairs, linens, dance floors, staging, and audiovisual equipment as required.
• Ensure all event spaces are clean, well-maintained, and properly stocked before and after each event.
• Tear down and reset event spaces efficiently, returning all items to storage after events.

Support During Events:

• Assist banquet servers and bartenders by restocking supplies, removing used dishes, and maintaining cleanliness.
• Monitor event areas for spills, trash, and hazards, and ensure they are addressed promptly.
• Provide assistance to guests as needed, such as helping with seating or providing information.

Maintenance & Organization:

• Maintain banquet equipment and furniture, reporting any damage or maintenance needs.
• Keep storage rooms organized and ensure all inventory is properly stored.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation policies while handling equipment and cleaning supplies.
• Assist in cleaning of event spaces as scheduled.
• Cleans and restocks restrooms during parties and events

 
Qualifications & Skills:

• Previous banquet, hospitality, or housekeeping experience preferred.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. frequently and stand for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow event setup instructions.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Positive attitude and commitment to providing excellent service.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced, physically active role requiring frequent lifting, bending, and moving furniture.
• Indoor and outdoor event spaces may require adaptation to weather conditions.
