The Department of Public Affairs at Roanoke College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Political Science beginning in August 2025 and ending in May 2026. This is a full-time position with a teaching load of eight courses or course-equivalents during the academic year. Visiting positions may be extended for up to two additional years contingent on performance and the needs of the program and College.
We seek candidates who have broad training in American Politics. The successful candidate will also contribute courses to the General Education curriculum. We also seek candidates who are passionate about teaching and will embrace Roanoke College’s commitment to academic innovation and transformative learning experiences. ABD’s will be considered.

In addition to excellent teaching and collegiality, the Public Affairs Department supports and expects active professional participation and research along with service to the department and the College. Visiting Professors are eligible to receive departmental funds and to apply for most of the College’s internal grants in support of their teaching and research.
