Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with 5+ years of experience in Government Contracting to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in government contracting compliance, job cost accounting, a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), government contracting regulations (DFAR, FAR, CAS), and be proficient with Unanet. 

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, love to learn, and is a dynamic team player who is able to meet the demands of a growing business environment.

The Staff Accountant role entails managing complex billing tasks, conducting analysis of financial records and reports, and assisting in the training of junior staff to guarantee timely, efficient, and precise data management within the department. This position collaborates closely with various departments to identify and resolve accounting-related challenges. Additionally, a solid understanding of general ledgers and sub-account ledgers is necessary to facilitate reconciliation during month-end and year-end closing processes.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Some understanding of Unanet Financial Module, Project Timekeeping, and Expense Reporting Module.
  • Extensive knowledge in DCAA compliant for Government Contractors.
  • Review, reconcile and analyze contract data in Unanet to ensure accuracy of CLINs, Labor categories and costs for accurate billing
  • Gather, organize and prepare data from multiple sources to be utilized during the billing process and other special project requests
  • Monitor and review monthly billings for accuracy
  • Accurately prepare and ensuring team submit invoices into government portals timely
  • Review collections and submittal delays and communicate with customers to ensure timely payments from customers.
  • Follow-up with subcontractors and consultants as required
  • Investigate and resolve internal and external customer inquiries in a timely manner
  • Assist with monthly closing of the books, including account reconciliations and posting revenue and expenses
  • Provide support for quarterly, annual, and periodic internal review requirements
  • Special projects assigned by Manager
  • 5-7 years of experience in Government Contacting, including T&M, FFP and cost-plus and working in WAWF, IPP, Delphi and other government portals.
  • Extensive knowledge of Government Contracting Accounting that includes but is not limited to compliances from FAR, DFAR and other agency rules.
  • Understand General Ledgers and the Sub-Ledgers that flow to the Financial Reports as well as AP and AR full cycle to assist in month-end and year-end closing.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with various levels of management
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce at a high level of accuracy Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to efficiently learn and utilize new software applications.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook.
  • Availability to work extra hours when the need arises.
  • Must possess integrity and be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Be able to handle miscellaneous projects as business needs as required.
