Goddard Senior Center Director
Department: Administration
Reports to: Assistant City Administrator
Classification: Non-exempt, Part-Time (25 hrs./week)
Pay Range: $16,000-$18,000 (annual salary)
Position Summary
The Goddard Senior Center Director is responsible for the daily operations of the burgeoning Goddard Senior Center. This part-time position reports directly to the Assistant City Administrator, but works closely with the Goddard Senior Citizens Advisory Board in developing and maintaining programs, initiatives, and activities that support the community’s senior citizen population. This is a salaried position with the understanding that this individual will work no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week on a routine basis.
Primary Responsibilities
· Serves as the main point of contact for the Goddard Senior Center and provides senior resource information
· Maintains the Goddard Senior Center monthly calendar of events
· Recruits, organizes, and manages volunteers for the Goddard Senior Center
· Coordinates the Goddard Senior Meals Program with Aging Projects, Inc.
· Collaborates with the Goddard Senior Citizens Advisory Board on developing and maintaining programming for area senior citizens
· Maintains necessary records for tracking participation/satisfaction surveys and on-going programs for the Goddard Senior Center
· Submits necessary paperwork to maintain grant funding with Sedgwick County and other entities
· Collaborates with the Goddard Senior Citizens Advisory Board on disseminating information regarding programs and activities to the community’s senior citizens
· Develops and maintains a multi-faceted communications plan to engage with the area senior citizens
Position Qualifications/Attributes
· Education: High School diploma or GED required. Post-secondary technical degree or college credit desired. Gerontology education/training is preferred.
· Experience: Two to three years of similar or related experience is preferred, specifically related to working with senior citizen populations.
· Skills:
o Event planning/management
o Strong communication and public speaking skills
o Excellent project management and organizational skills
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
o Proficiency in social media, web communications, content creation, and public relations
o A knowledge of federal, state, and local grant programs is helpful
