Overview of the Role

We are looking for a talented PHP Developer to join our backend team. The ideal candidate will work primarily on a Laravel Nova, contributing to robust, scalable backend systems. This role is perfect for someone passionate about clean code, efficient systems, and continuous improvement. Experience with Node.js is a plus, and familiarity with cloud technologies, message brokers like Kafka, and caching systems like Redis is a strong advantage. 

This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both! We will kit you out to work from home but know that working as a team is what makes us great and spending quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned. 

What you’ll do:  

Develop and maintain systems using PHP programming language; 

Develop and maintain systems using PHP and Laravel within a Nova-based administrative tool; 

Build and maintain RESTful and SOAP APIs for internal and external integrations; 

Collaborate with frontend developers, designers, product stakeholders, and other relevant teams; 

Write clean, reusable, and testable backend code with a focus on scalability and performance; 

Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing systems and backend services; 

Contribute to documentation and technical specifications; 

Integrate 3rd-party services and APIs where required; 

Reviewing and enforcing the quality of code; 

Participating in the application lifecycle with particular focus on removing the bugs and improving the code; 

Related duties as assigned. 

What you’ll bring: 

Working Experience:

Minimum 4 years of experience as a PHP Developer; 

Prior experience in a relevant field, with back-end development experience —especially with Node.js — is considered a plus; 

Solid experience with Laravel, preferably including Laravel Nova; 

Experience in building and consuming REST APIs (experience with SOAP is considered a plus); 

Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development processes. 

Knowledge:

Strong knowledge of PHP and Laravel framework (including Laravel ecosystem); 

Good understanding of MVC architecture and OOP principles; 

Experience with PostgreSQLor other relational databases; 

Proficient in version control using Git; 

Understanding of performance optimization and backend security best practices; 

Familiarity with Node.js is a plusKnowledge of containerized development (e.g., Docker) is a plus;

Proficient in written and verbal English communication;

Experience with cloud technologies is a plus (particularly AWS preferred);  

Experience working with message brokers like Kafka and caching systems like Redis is a plus; 

Basic front-end knowledge is required, including HTML, CSS, and basic JS. Familiarity with browser developer tools, responsive design principles, and how the front end communicates with APIs is considered a plus.
