The hostess is often the first person to interact with guests and is the first impression of the company. It is the responsibility of the Hostess to greet and welcome guests, seat them and answer any follow up questions. The Hostess is required to ensure the guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their tables and wait times for food. When necessary, the Hostess will offer beverages to the waiting guests. Other responsibilities include following a daily schedule, performing proper set-up, maintenance, break-down and cleaning of the breakfast area while providing excellent guest service and satisfaction. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Greets all guest with a warm welcome as they enter the Dining area.
- Maintain awareness of guest needs and demeanor while waiting.
- Seat guests by request or assigned table/section rotation.
- Assist with the set up and cleanliness of the Restaurant adhering to Brand standards at all times.
- Assist with inventory of food, beverages and supplies needed for each day
- Assists with clearing and set-up of tables as they are vacated
- Restocks self-service food and supplies as needed
- Dust and cleans room decorations, appliances, & structural surfaces (e.g. wall fixtures, window sills, vents, etc.; using appropriate cleaners designated by immediate supervisor
- Inspect areas for safety hazards
- Check operating conditions of equipment
- Communicate effectively with Management regarding any guest or employee issues
- Use Micros or computer system as necessary
- Performs any other duties or special projects as assigned
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Must be able to understand, read, write and speak English at an advanced level to effectively communicate with Team Members and Guests.
- Must be well groomed and have excellent personal appearance
- Must be able to apply commonsense understanding, in carrying out instructions
- Must be able to utilize and follow a checklist, take inventory of supplies and convey information to staff and management.
- Must be able to comply in standardized situations with only occasional or no variation.
- Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to work without constant supervision.
- Must be able to work well as a part of a team.
- Must be engaging with all guest throughout meal periods; responding to guest and Team Members as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand for long periods of time on hard surface; using arms, hands and legs repetitively; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee frequently is required to walk, climb or balance, talk, hear and smell.
- Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals, warm temperature and not be allergic to dust.
- Must regularly be able to carry/ up to 10 (+) pounds; frequently lift to 25 pounds, and occasionally push a cart weighing up to 200 pounds.
- Must be capable of effectively using close vision, distance vision, color vision and sense of smell.
- Able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: - High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Six months Customer Service, hotel or restaurant experience preferred.
- Must have excellent customer service skills
