A dynamic veterinary organization is seeking an experienced veterinarian to join their team as a Regional Medical Director . This full-time, salaried position involves overseeing 20-35 practices across the Southern U.S., requiring weekly travel. The ideal candidate should be based in the Dallas area, but the organization will also consider applicants from other regions.

The Regional Medical Director will be a key leader in ensuring consistent, high-quality patient care and an exceptional client experience across multiple locations. This role requires a compassionate and adaptable leader who can effectively collaborate with various teams, mentor veterinarians, manage clinical operations, and support the overall success of the hospitals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct mentorship and clinical support to veterinarians across 20-35 practices.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to manage practice flow, monitor appointments, and maintain high client satisfaction.
  • Fill urgent shifts and offer support for negative case outcomes.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, visits, and revenue per doctor day to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Work with leadership teams to address operational challenges and implement strategies for success.
  • Oversee compliance with medical policies, guidelines, and legal requirements.
  • Maintain at least 8 days of clinical staffing each month to support hospital operations.
  • Conduct quarterly inspections of all practices in the region to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
  • Lead regional DVM events to foster community and best practices across locations.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:

  • DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited institution (or successful completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program).
  • Active veterinary license(s) and DEA registration in good standing (or ability to obtain).
  • At least 5 years of clinical veterinary experience; prior leadership or mentorship experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and mediate conflicts.
  • Excellent decision-making and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret key metrics and data.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to balance travel and clinical responsibilities.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing veterinary teams.
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability to support multiple hospitals with varying needs.
