Full time Regional Medical Director - DVM - New opportunity + Highly Competitive Salary - Atlanta Metro / North Georgia area.

 

A prominent veterinary organization is seeking a skilled and compassionate veterinarian to join their team as a Regional Medical Director. This full-time, salaried position offers the opportunity to oversee 20-35 practices across the Southern region, requiring weekly travel to various locations. The ideal candidate should be based in the Atlanta Metro/North Georgia area, although applications will be accepted from other cities in the region.

The Regional Medical Director will be a vital leader, working with hospital teams to maintain high-quality medical care and ensure a positive client experience. This role involves mentoring doctors, supporting staff, resolving operational issues, and driving practice performance. The Regional Medical Director will also collaborate with leadership teams to manage the overall success of the practices under their supervision.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on support and mentorship to DVMs at multiple practices within the region.
  • Review complex cases upon request from DVMs, Practice Managers, or Regional Directors.
  • Oversee hospital operations, ensuring smooth flow of appointments and high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Fill urgent shifts and provide support during negative case outcomes.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, visits, and doctor performance.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to resolve issues and implement improvements.
  • Conduct quarterly inspections of practices and facilitate regional DVM events.
  • Balance corporate duties, including travel, meetings, and DVM interviews, with time allocated for clinical staffing.
  • Foster healthy communication between DVMs, offering guidance on protocols and ideas.
  • Ensure that all practices comply with licensing and permit requirements.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:

  • DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited institution (or successful completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program).
  • Veterinary licenses in the states of the practices being managed.
  • Active DEA license in good standing (or the ability to obtain).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate diverse teams.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience, with prior leadership or mentorship experience preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data, making informed decisions to drive practice success.
  • Ability to handle high levels of travel and time away from home, including extensive travel within the region.
