Job Description

Dean’s Professional Services is now hiring a qualified, patient-care-focused Phlebotomist I  to work in a Lab Facility  in Miami, FL.

The Phlebotomist I  is responsible for drawing quality blood samples from patients and preparing those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. They also have direct contact with patients and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens skillfully, safely, and accurately. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood samples from patients for medical testing or donation. 
  • Must ensure they take the correct amount of blood and that the patient is comfortable during the procedure. 
  • Label and store blood samples to help doctors diagnose and treat patients. 
  • Verify patient information before drawing blood.
  • Assemble and maintain equipment such as needles, test tubes, and blood vials. 
  • Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time. 
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Performs with confidence, both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures. 
  • Perform verification of patient demographic info/initials including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct. 
  • Maintains required records and documentation. 
  • Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent – Required.
  • Phlebotomy Certification – Preferred 
  • Minimum 6 months of experience – Required  
  • One (+) years of phlebotomy experience – Preferred 
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training – Preferred 
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment - Preferred
  • Keyboard/data entry experience – Required 

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00 am – 2:00 pm/Rotating Saturdays 6:30 am – 10:30 am
  • Starting at $17/hr. (Based on experience) 
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
  • Full benefits – healthcare, dental, vision, 401k program.
