PURPOSE:

Proactively identify Organized Retail Crime (ORC) activity and trends. Develop strategies to reduce organized retail criminal activity against the company. Assist and develop Asset Protection programs that foster a safe shopping and working environment for our customers and associates as well as protecting company assets. This will be accomplished while preventing crime and loss to the company through policies, procedures, use of technology, and strategies, while working closely with Operations and Division level employees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Protects company property / assets to include, theft, illegal entry and illegal activities.

•Leads, manages and coordinates investigations (internal and external) into Organized Criminal Activity.

•Articulates confidential investigative information to appropriate management.

•Collects, analyzes and monitors intelligence through networking with state and local associations as well ascomputer- based programs and skills.

•Develops investigative leads by identifying criminal trends and patterns and develops strategies to reducecriminal activity.

•Partners with and maintains a positive relationship with other retail investigators, Federal, State and LocalLaw enforcement agencies

•Maintains a communication network that allows the flow of investigative information pertaining to e-Commerce fencing of stolen goods, monitor venues (i.e., swap meets) where stolen product could be sold.

•Effectively educates (conduct training) and communicates criminal trends causing loss to our stores.

•Conducts surveillance, use CCTV equipment and follow up investigations on subjects involved in ORC.

•Presents facts and testifies at court hearings in regards to investigations.

•Maintains formal communications through the organization.

•Acts as liaison for the following: Corporate council, labor relations/human resources, government agencies,operations personnel, law enforcement agencies, community groups, outside agencies, judicial agencies.

•Monitors in-store programs (identify security problems, concerns) and make recommendations to ensureeffectiveness of these programs.

•Complies with company grooming standards and dress code.

•Responsible for performing all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately and with honesty andintegrity.

•Other necessary and required duties.

  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
  • College degree or equivalent work experience (1-3 years of experience in loss prevention /store security management)
  • Ability to read, write, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess good communication skills, both oral and written and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals. Must be able to give effective presentations before groups. Possess strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone.
  • Good understanding of computer programs and skills (word, excel, e-mail).
  • Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe and thorough completion of work activities. Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions.
  • Knowledge of city, county, state penal codes, particularly those laws related to but not limited to shoplifting, arrest, courtroom demeanor, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess the ability to motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results. Must have the ability to represent the Company's interest to outside parties.
  • Multi-tasked oriented.
  • This position requires regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • This is not all inclusive and maybe amended at any time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Generally work in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • May sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
  • May use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
  • Could spend a majority of time traveling throughout the Division visiting retail units, attending hearings and arbitration, etc.
  • Must have own transportation and be available for overnight travel.
