Primary Function

Responsible for managing all aspects of the operation of a State certified Lab (Clean Water Testing) in accordance with policies and guidelines as directed by Management including: supervision of all lab activities; lab accreditation; calibration, repair and maintenance of lab equipment; and purchase of all lab supplies and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, guidance, training, backup, and support for all lab personnel
  • Operate, maintain, and repair analytical instrumentation including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GFAA, CVAA, Ion Chromatography, and Flow Injection
  • Maintain state certification of the lab, including ov erseeing all quality assurance and quality control requirements and preparing and responding to all lab audits
  • Expand laboratory capabilities to include additional drinking water parameters
  • Provide yearly budget input to Management for subordinate employee salary adjustments, tool and supply requirements, as well as necessary capital expenditures for laboratory upgrades and maintenance.
  • Develop, maintain and grow partnerships with subcontract labs
  • Evaluate Lab Analysis pricing structures to ensure market value and profitability
  • Oversee all lab customer programs and develop new initiatives to increase business
  • Additional responsibilities may include sample coding, sample preparation, routine sample analysis, sample container preparation, and helping customers assess results.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of supervisory/ leadership experience preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience in a laboratory environment
