JOB AD: Interventional Radiologist Introduction : Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Radiologists to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services within the Veteran Affairs Medical Systems throughout the United States. Today’s post will place you at the primary location of the Lexington VA MidSouth Healthcare Network. Hospital: Lexington VA Health Care System
Location: United States, Lexington, KY
Minimum Qualifications: - Degree/Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
- Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted, or schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted
- For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant. [If the applicant does not claim an ECFMG certificate, facility officials must still confirm that the medical school meets (or met) ECFMG eligibility requirements for the year the candidate graduated.]
- Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support :
- Current, valid American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS required
- DEA / NPI Number required
Board Certification: (5.2.6.4.4) :
- Must hold board certification by American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American College of Radiology Board (ACR)
Experience :
- Minimum of two (2) years of current experience, actively practicing in specialty, post-board certification
- 1-2 years of experience in therapeutic radiation oncology preferred
Licensure :
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Must be board-certified to qualify

- Contract: Year-long assignment
- Hours of Performance: Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 -1700, Monday through Friday. Hours are subject to change and may include nights and weekends
- Detailed pay rates will be outlined in the initial interview phase
Physical Requirements: - Must be able to walk, stand, and bend for 6-8 hours per day
- Able to distinguish between basic colors
- Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers in stressful situations
- Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and undergo urine drug testing
- Advanced medical and anatomical skills
- Knowledge of general surgery practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong motor skills and manual dexterity
- Ability to work long and irregular hours
- Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm and focused on stressful situations
- Organizational and time management skills
