Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is seeking a qualified and dedicated full-time Media Production faculty member, in the Visual, Performing, and Media Arts (VPMA) area, to join our program beginning August 2025 . We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.

The successful candidate will bring a wealth of professional industry experience in television and audio production, along with a passion for teaching and mentoring a diverse set of college students. The teaching responsibilities would include television production, audio production, radio station operations, television directing, broadcast management, video production portfolio, video editing, and other media courses. The ideal candidate must be willing to teach and if necessary, design advanced production and post-production classes.

This position is in the Visual, Performing, and Media Arts (VPMA) area at Montgomery College. The VPMA area has outstanding programs in new media technology. Montgomery College is the most diverse college in continental America and has a long history of issuing associate degrees and successfully preparing students for transfer to four-year institutions like Towson University, Universities at Shady Grove, University of Maryland, Howard University, and many more, both regional and beyond.

Montgomery College has three campuses as well as a virtual campus and instructs a few select courses at area high schools. Faculty will be assigned to the Rockville campus though may be required to teach at other campuses or area High Schools for special programs.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Teach 4 or 5 courses in video/television, post-production, audio production, and other media courses per semester.
  • Prepare course materials like homework assignments, handouts, and syllabi; evaluate and grade student exams, assignments, and papers.
  • Integrate the use of a learning management system (Blackboard) and other relevant new technology into instruction.
  • Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid in the daytime, evening, and/or weekends accelerated and virtual courses. Opportunities may exist for teaching summer classes.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and supportive learning environment that values and respects student diversity.
  • Apply culturally relevant pedagogies to the teaching and learning process.
  • Bring real-world industry experience into the classroom, sharing insights, case studies, and practical applications.
  • Contribute to the development of new courses and programs that align with industry trends and advancements.
  • Understand and commit to student success including increasing retention, transfer, and graduation.
  • Advise students in media production about program curriculum, transfer options, and professional/career opportunities.
  • Take an active role in supporting the Media Arts & Technologies department's promotional initiatives.
  • Take an active role in supporting curriculum-based activities.
  • Maintain an active program of professional development and participate in professional organizations and activities.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and pedagogical innovations through continuous professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in television production, media, or related area.
  • At least three years of industry experience in media production.
  • Expertise with Adobe Premiere and Adobe Audition.
  • Experience teaching courses at the college level.
  • Willingness to incorporate new technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and advise students.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must and a willingness to work with others collaboratively in a small program.
  • Proficiency with and ability to use a Learning Management System (LMS) and other web-based instructional technology to facilitate learning in a web-enhanced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching using a variety of delivery methods , online resources, and technology applications across the curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of industry experience in media production
  • Recent teaching experience at a college or university.

Hiring Range is $62,319 to $94,876.
