Job Title Instructional Aid Associate Specialist
Department Arts and Sciences | Physics Administration
The Department of Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks an Instructional Aid Associate Specialist to join our team.
The Instructional Aid Associate Specialist supports the Instructional Aid Specialist 2 and Lab Manager in development, maintenance, set-up, and updating of instructional technology for courses in the Department of Physics. This individual applies basic concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to assist with demonstrating, discussing, and training teaching faculty in the use of instrumentation and instructional hardware. They operate as part of a team to assist lab trainers and coordinators regarding equipment, and they assist in the investigation and development of evidence-based instructional approaches. They help with inventory set-up, maintenance, and disposition of teaching aids to support the department’s introductory courses, which seat approximately 7,000 students per year, and provide instructional lab support to 50+ faculty members. They assist the Instructional Aid Specialist 2 with organizing, planning, designing, and constructing custom hardware, including 3D printing and rapid turnaround machining. They make recommendations to the Instructional Aid Specialist 2 and Lab Manager about potential software and hardware solutions. They respond to inquiries and requests from faculty, lecturers, and graduate teaching associates about instructional labs and lab equipment. They help facilitate lab demonstrations at departmental outreach events such as the Ohio State Fair. They perform video recordings, editing, and production as needed. This individual must be able to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends, based on course schedules and outreach events.
Required Education Bachelor's level degree with a major in physics or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information The pay range for this job profile is $20.02-$26.33. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
