Reports directly to: Operations Manager

Department: Events

Position type: Part-time, On-Call

Location: Antilles School, 7280 Frenchman Bay, St. Thomas, VI 00802

Salary: $20.00 per hour

Event Staff provides essential support to the school’s Events team in executing both internal and external events. This flexible, as-needed position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and success of various school events, including meetings, conferences, banquets, and social functions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and be available for on-call shifts based on event needs.

Skills, Abilities & Competencies
  • Assist in the setup, service, and breakdown of event spaces, including arranging furniture, audiovisual equipment, decor, and event materials.
  • Support the Events team in delivering seamless experiences for both internal and external events hosted by the school.
  • Ensure that event spaces are clean, organized, and visually appealing before, during, and after events.
  • Communicate effectively with the Events team, catering staff, and vendors to ensure event requirements are met.
  • Help manage the flow of guests, including greeting and directing them as needed during events.
  • Adhere to all safety and food hygiene regulations during event operations.
  • Assist in maintaining and organizing event materials, inventory, and supplies.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff, vendors, and volunteers to ensure smooth execution of events.
  • Be flexible and available to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on the event schedule.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager/Event Coordinator to ensure the success of each event.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Previous experience in event support, hospitality, or customer service is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and carry event-related items (up to 30 lbs).
  • A positive, professional attitude and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
Working Conditions
  • This is an on-call, part-time position with variable hours.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required depending on event schedules.
  • Work will take place both on school grounds and at off-site venues for external events.
