We currently have the following opportunity for an Environmental Engineer in the HSES (Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security) Department at our Texas Plants Facilities (Deer Park, TX).

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assure that the Texas Plant facilities are in compliance with the environmental rules and regulations from local, state and federal agencies

  • Responsible for all aspects of Stormwater, Wastewater and Potable Water Compliance at the Deer Park facility
  • Interpret and implement state and federal regulations as well as compliance programs at the unit and site levels including but not limited to SPCC, FRP, PHMSA, wastewater, stormwater, potable water, groundwater and wetlands rules
  • Participate in permitting strategy for required water permits. Responsible for the timely submittals of all required permit applications/renewals/modifications and of subsequent agency communications that support the business
  • Lead water program related TCEQ and EPA audits and investigations including follow-up responses and actions.
  • Review incidents, and document information required for spill reporting; Report events as required to regulatory agencies
  • Train operating personnel on permit and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and maintain internal water sustainable processes, procedures, and systems for compliance assurance in alignment with RC14001
  • Monitor proposed water rules, provide timely updates to environmental manager, collaborate with stakeholders to develop implementation plans and sustainable compliance processes in alignment with RC14001
  • Perform field walkthroughs and support HSES responsibilities
  • Collaborate with unit operational personnel on projects and improvements
  • Responsibilities include on-call and emergency support for the plant
  • Other duties as identified

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • A BS or higher degree in Environmental Engineering or Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • At least 2 years of chemical plant experience with a focus on water regulatory compliance and permitting
  • 5+ years of direct environmental water regulatory compliance / permitting experience or other related experience
  • Strong experience and working knowledge base of Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC), Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES),
  • Strong experience and working knowledge of spill reporting requirements to regulatory agencies
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Must possess strong Microsoft Excel specifically, Microsoft suite and overall computer skills
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a plant environment and wear required PPE

 

Considered A Plus:

  • Experience with drinking water regulations and operating public water systems
  • Experience in chemical batch processing
  • Knowledge of remediation and wetlands programs
  • Multi-media environmental knowledge including Resource Conservation and Recovery Act regulations, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), SARA Tier 2, Emission Inventory
