Position Summary
The Student Disability Services Coordinator ensures that students with disabilities receive the necessary services and accommodations, providing them with equal access to the university’s educational resources. This role serves as the primary point of contact for a diverse caseload of students with various disabilities, including visual and motor impairments, hearing loss, and cognitive and psychological disabilities.
Key Responsibilities: Coordinate the review of disability documentation and the assessment of student needs for accommodations.
Serve as an information resource on matters related to disabilities, legislation, and best practices for students, faculty, and staff.
Provide oversight for academic and testing accommodations.
Ensure that students with disabilities receive appropriate services and support.
Key Functions: Serve as the primary contact for students with disabilities, providing guidance and support.
Collaborate with SDSU IV Dean of Students and SDSU San Diego Student Disability Services to ensure seamless service delivery.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of disability resources and best practices.

Position Information
Full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, probationary position.
Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is located at SDSU Imperial Valley in Calexico, CA, approximately 120 miles east of the San Diego main campus.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in Imperial Valley.
Department Summary
Student Disability Services in the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity provides a full range of accommodations and services to SDSU Imperial Valley students with physical, psychological, and learning disabilities, facilitating equal access to the educational process. This is accomplished through direct service support, review of campus accessibility, adaptive technology, assessment, test accommodation, and a variety of other services. Accommodations vary according to types of disabilities and may include notetaking, accommodated testing, sign language interpreters, and textbooks in accessible formats. Students with temporary disabilities may request notetaking, assistance with test-taking, special parking, and/or cart service. Student Disability Services at SDSU IV currently serves over 50 students, which includes undergraduate and graduate students. The provision of these academic support services, technology, and advocacy promotes the retention and graduation of students with disabilities at SDSU.

Education and Experience
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job‑related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.
Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job‑related education may be substituted for the required experience.
Key Qualifications
Bilingual: English & Spanish.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications and Google applications.
Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act[1] , Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended in 1998, FERPA, and other relevant state and federal laws and codes.
Knowledge of emerging educational and computer technology for effectively supporting diverse disabilities in a higher education setting.
Work experience in disability services at the postsecondary level.
Working knowledge of assistive technology hardware and software, as well as standard computer hardware and software.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience supporting underrepresented, low-income, and first-generation college students and working effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $ 4,269 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package that constitutes a major portion of total compensation.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,269 - $6,040 per month.
